Who should I contact about writing a book on immigrants?

I know people, who know people, who know illegal immigrants. They say they are very nice family-oriented people. I want to portray before America the human-ness of these persons and show everybody how similar they are to us. I've never written a book before. I'm so excited and a little nervous? Who do YOU think I should contact???
