How painful is child birth?

I have had four natural births. I would give it a 5 1/2. It was a moderate pain. That is for labor. I would consider crowning almost a 9, but the pain only lasts for a couple of minutes. It feels similar to holding your mouth open very wide for a long time. It is a dull, aching, stretching feeling. It is not a sharp pain. I used the Bradley method for all my births, so I never go uterine cramps. I had contractions, but no cramps with them.
