Why do people say women have higher pain tolerance?

It seems like the only pain a healthy man has to endure is going through puberty. Things like getting random erections and not being able to ejaculate when he wants. A woman may not have a higher tolerance for pain, but go through a lot more pain in our lifetime. Having to grow breast is an uncomfortable feeling along with getting your first and 100 more period through out your lifetime, there's child birth, there's menopause. And men have almost nothing. How silly.
